Be A Square: The Basic Four Fitness Elements
Regardless of the nature of your medical weight loss program, exercise is important to help you stay healthy and keep the weight off. An overall fitness plan should include four different components of fitness. But don’t be intimidated. You don’t have to do every type of exercise every day. In fact, mixing up your exercise routine will help keep you from getting bored. So plan some activities that involve:
-Core strength: Core strength is what helps you stand up straight and carry bags without hurting your back. Exercises on a fitness ball are great for developing core strength.
-Cardiovascular fitness: Any aerobic activity, including walking, biking, dancing, or taking a fitness class will improve your heart health.
-Muscle strength: Building strong muscles doesn’t mean you have to pump a lot of iron. A fitness class that involves using your own body weight, such as yoga or Pilates, will help you build muscle strength, too, as will using light hand weights to do exercises at home.
-Flexibility: Easy stretching at any time of day, or as part of a fitness class, will help improve your flexibility.
