Many people say they don’t exercise because they don’t have the time or energy to make physical fitness a part of their busy schedules. Learn some creative solutions for overcoming some of the most common barriers to exercising.

Tips for Finding Time and Energy to Exercise

  • Take it 10 minutes at a time. If you don’t have an extra 30 minutes to dedicate to working out, find three 10-minute blocks of time during the day to take a brisk walk.
  • Get up earlier. If your days and nights are packed with work, homework, and extra curricular activities, try getting up 30 minutes earlier every day for a quick workout before you head into the shower.
  • Always walk the parking lot. Park as far away as possible every morning at work and every time you stop at the grocery store. In addition to parking farther away, make a point of taking the stairs instead of the elevator whenever possible. These extra steps can add up quickly if you make a habit of it!
  • Rethink your free time. Do you spend your downtime watching movies or TV? Consider taking up a fun hobby that requires a little more movement. Go for a family bike ride or play an active video game.
