Get Your Groove On
Exercising and staying healthy can be a pleasure when you are doing something you enjoy. Do you start tapping your feet when you hear your favorite music? If so, clear some space in front of your speakers, or put on your iPod and start grooving in the comfort of your home.
If you are just beginning your medical weight loss program and haven’t been exercising for a while, take it easy at first. Start with 10 minutes of easy dancing a few days a week, and work up to 15 minutes one day, then drop back to 10 minutes the next day, then dance for 15 minutes again the day after that.
As you feel stronger, check out the array of dance-inspired DVDs that are available for all fitness levels. You can find dance DVDs for any type of dance you can think of, including hip hop, salsa, ballroom, and belly dancing. And remember that an evening out dancing with friends is a legitimate part of a weight loss program, too.
