How to Lose Weight at Work

Busy work schedules can keep you glued to your desk for hours. When you finally get off of work, the last thing you’re thinking about doing is hitting the gym or going home and sweating to the oldies. However, if you’re trying to lose weight, exercise is important. You have to work out if you want to burn calories and shed pounds. Good news, even if you’re cooped up in the office, you can exercise and lose weight.

There are tons of exercises you can do at your desk. Some of them can be done standing while others can be done sitting down. For instance, you can do jumping jacks for one minute, run in place really fast for 90 seconds and pull in your abs while you’re seated. You can even use a treadmill desk while you work at your computer instead of sitting down all day.

Go for a short walk during your lunch break. Instead of raiding the nearest fast food joint on your lunch break, strap on your tennis shoes and head to a park and take a brisk walk. If there is not a park nearby, walk around the building.

Snack on healthy foods. Exercise is only part of what is required to lose weight. You have to also monitor your diet. This means staying away from the vending machine at work and eating healthy snacks instead. Examples of healthy snack foods that you can keep at the office include:

  • almonds
  • yogurt with fresh fruit
  • sliced apples
  • bananas
  • graham crackers
  • peanut butter
