Low-Calorie Desserts

Some people find that they have trouble losing weight because of their penchant for salty snacks. For others, it’s the call of the sweets that keeps the numbers on the scale from creeping downward. If you suffer more from the latter, then rest assured that there are sweet treats for you to enjoy that are low in calories.

Fruit

Fruit is one of those naturally sweet desserts that’s often passed over in favor of chocolate treats. In addition to being low in fat and calories, fruit has something that no chocolate can boast-vitamins, nutrients and fiber. Many fruits are rich in iron, potassium and vitamins A, B and C. Try apples, oranges, purple grapes, pomegranates, bananas, blueberries and mangoes for a sweet surprise.

Sorbet

Sorbet is a frozen dessert made with water and fruit. Because it doesn’t contain any dairy, sorbet is a great alternative to ice cream and frozen yogurt. Have a small scoop of sorbet all by itself, or for a more indulgent dessert, add a few pieces of a complementary fruit on top (for example, jazz up strawberry sorbet with a few slices of banana).
